What Is Naramore
The Naramore Art Show, a partnership between Seattle Public School and the Seattle Art Museum features over 200 works of art by SPS Middle & High School Students! Since 1985, SPS has held the Naramore Art Show to share the artworks of its students and celebrate their achievements with the community. Floyd A. Naramore, whose name is honored by this exhibition, was a visionary architect who invested deeply in his community and in the education of students. He designed over 22 schools, including Roosevelt, Garfield, and Cleveland high schools as well as several middle schools across the Pacific Northwest.

- Khalil Greer, Grade 12: “Yours Truly & Nights”
- Artist Statement: yours truly was made to express love in a mysterious way because you cant see the whole letter and what it says and nights was made to show seattle city night life from the outside view at Alki.
- Amir Mohammednur, Grade 12: “Vertigo”
- Artist Statement: This is an angled picture of an individual walking on the Brooklyn Bridge. The weather was around 30 degrees with a hint of snow residue, and shows a beautiful background of with the scenery of the city.
- Stella Jensen, Grade 12: “Untitled Dog”
- Artist Statement: At first this picture may be just another cute dog photo, but to me it is a representation of how overlooked shelter dogs are. people constantly wanting the most desirable, perfect pure bred dog, when in reality there are hundreds of thousands of dogs walking the streets waiting for a home to finally be at peace.
- Devin Nim, Grade 12: “Zoom!”
- Artist Statement: Our view is large and we don’t see the loveliness in which nature presents us, zooming in will unveil what is hidden to us.
- Luke Maddock, Grade 12: “Relay”
- Artist Statement: This photo is a representation of the infinite repetition in life, and how finding beauty and uniqueness in that repetition is extremely important.
- Jaydn Sandstrom, Grade 12: “Thinking Frog”
- Jerry Casimir Zhu, Grade 12: “Blown Away”
- Artist Statement: This photo was an experiment in framing and lighting. I wanted to use a studio background and focus on contrast as the main element
- Lamont Johnson, Grade 12: “Choo Choo”
- Artist Statement: The train leads people to their destination and is blurred because people often forget to enjoy the journey that comes with it. The color and black and white represents how people are hyper focused on one thing and forget to look at their surroundings.
- Tyler R Martinez, Grade 12: “Electricity in Motion”
- Artist Statement: In this photo I got a chance to shoot the SeaFair Hydroplanes and used their speed to my advantage to make a panning shot. I also used the bright red livery to highlight one color in the photo (red) to draw the eyes of viewers.
- Yongyin Wu, Grade 12: “Ode to Penn”
- Artist Statement: Empty plates and intertwined cutlery, frozen in black and white tones, form an unfinished ritual, concealing delicate emotions about waiting and absence.
- Keith Cottom, Grade 12: “a day on the beach”
- Artist Statement: it just reminds me of when i was young and my parents took me on the beach a lot so it just brings me back to when i was a young child.
- Garner Pelton, Grade 12: “Triptych”
- Artist Statement: The portrait takes inspiration from Irving Penn’s photos with moving light. This creates a panoramic effect by using long exposure and a moving fresnel light.
