The Garfield PTSA Mission Statement: To advocate and act for the health, education, and general well being of all students at Garfield High School and beyond.

Garfield High School features a diverse set of families, broad range of class offerings, sports and activities, and students with talents of just about every kind. Garfield’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) engages parents, faculty, students and staff in a creative collaboration that adds to the Garfield experience in many ways. We are affiliated with the Seattle Council PTSA and Washington State PTA.

The PTSA has been Garfield’s most enduring school support organization. Besides being a source of volunteer energy, the PTSA provides more than $200,000 annually for school projects, staff and student support, and community-building activities. The PTSA also advocates for appropriate levels of district and state funding for education.

Among the PTSA tools to help you navigate GHS are the eBark (weekly e-newsletter), our website, Facebook page and other e-mail updates. Watch for announcements of parent/caregiver get-togethers!

Current Volunteers Needed!

Parents and community members are encouraged to volunteer at Garfield, both at the school and with the PTSA. Please note, all volunteers need to complete a volunteer screening if they will be working within the school. You can find information and forms on the PTSA Volunteer page.

The PTSA sends out calls for volunteers to assist with a variety of events. Volunteer opportunities are advertised in the weekly eBark newsletter and on the PTSA website. Feel free to contact the PTSA President at president@garfieldptsa.org to discuss where your talents can be put to use or the Volunteer Coordinator Jhitana Ball; jlball@seattleschools.org for more information or if you can help out. We love our volunteers! Thank you!

YOU are invited! All PTSA Board and General Meetings are open to everyone in the community. Board Meetings include a school update by the Principal or other administrator, and discussion of ongoing and upcoming activities, new ideas, the PTSA budget and other business.

General Meetings usually feature a special guest speaker on a topic of wide interest to the Garfield community. They also include a school update by the Principal or other administrator, and discussion of major PTSA business, some of which requires approval by the PTSA membership.

Meet Your 23-24 PTSA Officers

At the PTSA General Meeting, members elected several new officers. Please join us in welcoming and congratulating them all!
