Dear Garfield Students and Families, Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year. We are excited to welcome students back to Garfield on Wednesday, September 2. Here is what students and families need to know for the first day and opening week.
- Student schedules available in The Source
- Schedules may continue to change during the opening days as our Counseling Department enrolls students, resolves course conflicts, and balances class sizes. Students should follow the classes on their current schedule until an official change is made.
- Sept. 2–4: Special opening-week Bell Schedule
- Saturday, Sept. 5: Back-to-School Jam, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Come celebrate the beginning of the school year with us at Garfield’s 2026 Back-to-School Jam on Saturday, September 5, from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. at Garfield High School.
- The event is free and open to the entire community, including elementary, middle, and high school students and their families. There will be backpacks filled with school supplies, free lunch, games and activities, a live DJ, and student and family support partners.
- Come celebrate the beginning of the school year with us at Garfield’s 2026 Back-to-School Jam on Saturday, September 5, from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. at Garfield High School.
- Monday, Sept. 7: No school — Labor Day
- Tuesday, Sept. 8: Regular bell schedule begins
- Wednesday, Sept. 9: First early-release Wednesday; dismissal at 2:25 p.m.

Special Bell Schedule: September 2, 3, 4
For the first three days of school (September 2, 3, 4), Garfield will follow the special schedule emailed to families and on the Bell Schedule page. There will be one lunch for the entire school, one 4th period, and Advisory each day. Wednesday, September 2, is a full school day. Students will be dismissed at 3:40 p.m. Our first early-release Wednesday is September 9.
Beginning Tuesday, September 8, Garfield will follow our regular Bell Schedule, with the regular Lunch1/Lunch2 schedule. Advisory will meet only on Tuesdays and Thursdays
We look forward to welcoming our Bulldogs back on September 2 and starting a strong year together.
