PTSA General Meeting
- March 10: At 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Library PTSA General Meeting & Guest Speaker on Understanding Executive Function and ADHD in Teens
- Informal Social Time: 6 – 6:30 p.m.
- 2026-27 Budget/Staffing on the agenda as well.
Please join us for a very important PTSA General Meeting featuring:
- An school update from Interim Principal Mr. Breland
- The latest news on the critical budget situation for Seattle Public Schools and discussion about the district’s staff allocation and impacts to Garfield for next year. We need as many voices as possible advocating to preserve the Garfield experience for current and future students, so please join this meeting to learn more.
- A guest speaker on “Understanding and Supporting Executive Function and ADHD in High Schoolers” (feel free to submit questions in advance online form available in the PTSA Newsletter).
Guest Speaker:
Nicole Groves, Ph.D., is an Acting Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and a licensed clinical psychologist at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She received her B.S. in psychology from Oklahoma State University, completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Florida State University, and completed her predoctoral internship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Her research focuses on emotion regulation and executive functioning in ADHD, and she is interested in contributing to the optimization of interventions for these and related impairments for individuals with ADHD.
