GHS PTSA Annual Fundraising Campaign

The Bulldogs 4 Life Bash Fundraiser was a huge success!

We are thrilled to report that through the generosity of our community we raised over $115,000!!! With over 120 people in attendance, it was a joyful event…building connections through community while supporting and celebrating Garfield High School in all of its Purple & White greatness! We had loads of current families, a good turn out of GHS Alumni, and, the truth is, many people fell into both categories!

A huge thank you to the B4L Bash team: Alicia Spanswick, Bill Brewster, Karen Lewis, Katie Busby, Michelle Mansfield, Sarah Bruemmer, Stacey Kryman & Jennifer Marquardt. GHS staff and student guests who shared their individual experiences of Garfield brilliance – Queen B.-H. (Y Scholars), GHS Orchestra String Quartet: Jon M., Timo N., Tyree C., Brayden U., Eric W. (A/V support), Mr. Rees (emcee), and Mr. Manzin (librarian).

A big group of student volunteers who brought fun and friendly energy, crushing raffle ticket sales. The adult volunteers who helped ensure the event was festive, from start to finish. And, finally, GHS families, alumni, neighborhood and greater Seattle area businesses who donated items for the silent auction…we had SO MANY AMAZING items – from Torrent tickets, Hello Robin cookie party, stunning original art, gift cards to so many local food spots, fun and interesting experiences like the Burke Museum, the Great Wheel a tasting at Oola Distillery, certificates for health & body care plus SO MUCH MORE.

We couldn’t have accomplished this without EVERYONE’s generosity and support!

Senior Grad Night Party Help Needed from Sophomore and Junior Parents

Help plan a fun and safe Grad Night Party for the Class of 2026! Typically a “pay it forward” volunteer event which relies primarily on sophomore and junior parents.  3-4 more parents are needed for the Grad Night planning committee!  A professional event planning company does most of the work but GHS Parents are needed to ensure a smooth, fun, safe all-night party for 2026 grads.

Class of 2026 Grad Night Party will take place on Tuesday June 16, 2026 in the evening, after the graduation ceremony. Grad Night co-chairs Kathleen Judd and Karin Zaugg-Black are looking for volunteers for the following roles.

  • Recruiting and coordination of chaperones for the event (20 chaperones needed)
  • Event promotion (at GHS)
  • Student Registration support
  • Purchasing items for the event

Parents from ALL classes are encouraged to join the Grad Night planning committee Email us at gradnight@garfieldptsa.org to volunteer or ask questions. Read more on the GHS PTSA website.

Garfield Band on King 5

Garfield band was nominated and voted “Best High School Band” as part of King 5’s Best of Western Washington series, voted on by viewers. Read All About It! This recognition speaks to the efforts of students across all of our ensembles, including concert, jazz, drumline and athletic band. Congrats everyone!

We need you! Help the PTSA in 2026-27

We are actively seeking volunteers for many open positions next school year, and invite parents and caregivers who are interested in volunteering at Garfield to get in touch!

Volunteer positions range from event-specific roles that can be done remotely on a flexible schedule (e.g., Grad Night planning committee) to ongoing roles such as co-editing our PTSA newsletter or serving as the Secretary on our board (help keep us organized with agendas and meeting minutes)! Please email Gabrielle Ventenbergs if you are interested! Many of the current PTSA leaders and volunteers are graduating. Start now to shadow and learn about your role. This way we can hit the ground running at the start of next school year.

Members need to join or renew their membership in the Garfield PTSA each year. We make it easy to join. Visit the GHS PTSA website and make sure that the top box is checked and any other appropriate boxes and select submit! No PTSA “dues” or other financial barriers to PTSA membership exist at Garfield. Instead of collecting membership dues, we ask for contributions to our Annual Fund from families who are financially able.

PTSA funds are used to support school activities, clubs and so much more.
