Garfield High School Commons
Garfield High School is hosting Reclaiming the Village, an inaugural summit created to center Black families, students, and the community-based organizations that support them.
The purpose is to build stronger relationships, connect families to meaningful supports, and gather input to inform how we improve—especially in how we support students and partner with families.
The “Reclaiming the Village” day will include:
- A community resource fair featuring organizations that provide academic, wellness, and mentoring supports.
- Listening sessions where families share experiences and offer feedback on how families and the school can better partner.
- Breakout discussions on student mental health, family and school partnerships, safety, and graduation requirements and student supports.
- Lunch and informal time are also built in to support connection and relationship-building.
- A closing reflection to capture feedback and outline next steps
This event is part of Garfield’s broader commitment to building stronger partnerships with families.
