Some Garfield classes are extracurricular activity classes. These classes are electives and include hands-on experiences and exposure to vocational-type skills. Students who take music, technology, or journalism will find that full participation is enhanced by after-school and extra curricular experiences. Any of these classes will require participation outside of school time and possibly inclusion in an associated club.

Members of the student government, Associated Student Body (ASB), and other student leaders can participate in Leadership/Project Management class.

Orchestra, Jazz, Band (Marching, Concert, Drum line) and Vocal students perform during evenings, weekends and competitions.

Our school newspaper, the Messenger, provides opportunities for students to develop journalism and business skills while publishing relevant news. Learning is enhanced while having fun and making new friends.

Students can participate in the creation of the yearbook by taking the Yearbook course.

Students in Family and Consumer Sciences have the opportunity to participate in Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, a national non-profit vocational organization for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public schools.

To participate in an activity class, select it as a course option during registration! Some classes may have prerequisites or require a staff signature - please make sure to read your course guide carefully.
