    Registration Worksheet Instructions:

STEP 1: Review with your parent/guardian or teacher your academic history and check-off on the Graduation Requirements Checklist all courses you have successfully completed (for which you’ve earned credit with a grade of D or higher). Use the online Garfield Registration Guide & Course Descriptions and the Weekly Time Commitment Worksheet to guide your course selection for the next academic year.

    STEP 2:

    • CHECK 8 semesters in LA, SS, Math, & Science – for yearlong courses, check the matching semester 1 and
      semester 2.
    • CHECK 4 semesters of Electives. Class of 2023 must check World Language as two of their electives.
    • Choose & mark ANOTHER 4 alternate electives with an A in the box.
    • You should have sixteen boxes marked: 12 CHECKED REQUESTS + 4 A’s/ALTERNATE electives.
    • Space is limited in the AP Sciences. If choosing AP Science, please also select a backup science course and mark with A’s on the work sheet.

STEP 3: Garfield requests you limit your schedule to three (3) AP courses per year. If you choose to request more than 3 AP courses per year, you must complete the Work Load Commitment form and submit with your course requests.

STEP 4: If you are considering Running Start, full-time or concurrent with Garfield classes, see our Counseling page for Running Start information and FAQs.

STEP 5: EMAIL your completed Course Request Worksheet and supporting academic documents directly to Garfield Registrar:

Academic documents (report card, transcript, standardized test scores, etc.) and letters of recommendation will allow our counselors and Department chairs to best assess core and advanced subject placement.

Thank you for submitting your course requests, as soon as possible. Due to COVID 19 closures, don’t worry if you can’t submit course requests. Just do your best. Seattle Public Schools’ final course offerings are based on student requests submitted during the spring registration process.
