Garfield's Staff and Students Need YOU!

The Garfield Staff and PTSA urge you to volunteer to work with our students, faculty and administrators so that Garfield High School is a place where every student thrives. We welcome and encourage the involvement of all parents and guardians, as well as members of the community. To learn more about volunteer opportunities at Garfield, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 206-252-2400.  The Volunteer Office is located in the PTSA Community Room (100A) just off the Commons.

    Required Paperwork:

All volunteers who work directly with students must complete the following paperwork and watch the online adult sexual misconduct video prior to volunteering.  Examples of volunteers that work directly with students include helping in a classroom, working with small groups, volunteering in the library, and chaperones. SPS has a new online only volunteer application which can be completed via the link below.

    • Complete Volunteer Application Packet (annually). This includes permission to run a background check.
    • Provide copy of drivers license (annually)
    • If you have lived in Washington State for at least three years, check your photo ID to see that it gives proof of residency for that time frame, such as a property tax statement, rental agreement, tax records, school records or utility bill. Do not attach original documents!
    •   Read the Volunteer Policy
    • Watch Adult Sexual Misconduct Video - online course (only once) and submit copy of completion certificate.

Please note: All forms must be completed annually (school year), but the video only needs to be viewed once.

Additional information including the Volunteer Handbook, general information about volunteering, and the forms in other languages can be found on the Volunteer Page of the Seattle Public Schools website.

    Attention Field Trip Chaperones!

In addition to the volunteer paperwork, all Chaperones must sign the Guidelines for Volunteer Chaperones.

Additional information about Field Trips can be found on the Seattle Public Schools Field Trip Procedures Page.

    Thank you!
