Douglass-Truth 50th Anniversary Renaming
The Garfield community is invited to join the Seattle Public Library’s Douglass-Truth Branch on Saturday, Dec. 13, from noon to 5 p.m. as the branch celebrates the 50th anniversary of its renaming. The event highlights the deep connection between the library and the community it serves.
Families can enjoy all-ages activities throughout the afternoon, including a performance by the Garfield Jazz Quartet, guided tours of the branch’s history, and opportunities to learn about the African American collection. Over the past five decades, the collection has grown into one of the largest archives of African American literature and history on the West Coast.
The celebration also includes refreshments and a chance for community members to imagine the next 50 years of the Douglass-Truth Branch.
