STUDENT ACTIVITIES

  • Please congratulate Zoe Russell!. Her painting was awarded first place in painting and first place overall for high school art at the Naramore Art Exhibit now on display at the Seattle Art Museum. She and 14 other students represented Garfield.
  • The Purple and White Dance is coming up! Guest Passes are available now outside the Activities Center, in the Main Office, and online, and are due on Friday 6/2 at 3:45!
  • Join the yearbook staff next year! Learn photography and publishing skills! It’s fun, it’s chill, and it’s a place where all of Garfield comes together to create memories.  It’s also OCC ED CREDIT! See Mr. Lovre in room 201
  • It’s almost your last chance to buy a yearbook! The list of who has purchased them so far is posted outside the yearbook room.  Check the list, then buy one from Mr. Lovre in room 201 or from Ms. Hurd in the office!
  • The spring musical is quickly approaching!! Do you like Hamilton? Did you know our musical IN THE HEIGHTS was written by the same guy? Shows are May 25th-27th, 31st, June 1st and 3rd. All shows start at 7pm. Student tickets are only $10 and I know you can go to at least one. Come support your fellow Garfield students!
  • Did you know that more than ½ of Americans have one or more unused phones in their homes? Recycle old phones, mp3 players, digital cameras, tablets and laptop computers until 5/26 in the library, main office or room 235.

    GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Get your teeth checked for FREE! Neighborcare Health is coming to do a free dental screening at the school on Friday, May 26th. A dental provider will make a quick visual check of your teeth and then put some fluoride on them to help protect them. There is NO COST to you or to your families for you to receive this screening or the fluoride . Please pick up a consent form at Nurse Miller’s office, have your parents fill it out, and bring it back to the nurse by Thursday, the 25th. The forms are available in about 8 different languages, so be sure to ask if your family members need the form in a language other than English.
  • Need a replacement ID? They are available Wednesdays and Fridays at lunch in the Activities Center in the Commons! $5 for replacement cards. See Ms. Antoncich with questions or to make an alternate appointment.
  • ELL Tutoring is 3:15-4:00 Monday and Thursday in room 312, Tuesday and Wednesday in room 330.
  • Tutoring in the Library Monday-Thursday from 3:30-5:00

  • Prom Court: If you want to nominate yourself for prom court. Submit a photo of yourself, and a brief statement about yourself or why you think you should win. Please contact Taceana or Amira in person, on Facebook, or by email Amirabanira@gmail.com by May 30th!
  • Seniors! Have you bought your GRAD NIGHT TICKETS? Tickets will be on sale TODAY at the Bulldog Counter during lunch. For more information, or to get Grad Night forms, email garfield2017class@gmail.com.
  • The PE Test will be administered on May 31st at 3:30pm in the Commons. 12th graders need to complete the PE Competency Exam in order to meet that graduation requirement.  All 12th graders must complete this graduation requirement either by passing the Personal Fitness class or by taking the Competency Exam. If you don't know your status, check with your counselor. For a study guide, please go to the Garfield Website.
  • Seniors: Prom tickets are on sale during lunch in the Activities Center today through 6/2. Ticket prices go up each week, so get your tickets early!

  • Class of 2018:  It’s time for you to schedule your 11th Grade Meeting! See the counseling secretary in the Counseling Office during non-class time to make your appointment. We'll talk graduation requirements and life beyond high school!

    • Iman Brown is the State Champion in the Girls High Jump with a PR of 5’8.75”.
    • Felecia Bazie has qualified to compete in the 100 hurdle finals TODAY.
    • Ellie Dunn PR’d and placed 10th overall in the 100 hurdles.
    • William Laird placed 5th in the 1600 and will compete in the 800 prelims TODAY.
    • Girls 4x200 Relay has qualified for finals Saturday!
