    STUDENT ACTIVITIES

    • Whats poppin' Bulldogs! Purple and White (PAW) is around the corner and with that comes all the fun festivities.  This year we are revamping the lip dub and we need your help! If you want to be involved, help film, edit, or be a "lip dubber" then come on down to the AC for the informational meeting next Tuesday 5/1 during advisory to learn more.HOPE TO SEE YA THERE!
    • The Richard’s Rwanda club has assembly honoring the 24th Anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide Against the Tutsi People on Thurs, 4/26 during 4th period. Our speaker Diane, who now lives in Seattle, will share her experience living through the genocide. If you’re interested in attending, ask your 4th period teacher or see Ms. Soroko in Room 205.
    • Congratulations to Garfield Robotics for competing at the FIRST robotics world championships last week! They worked alongside teams from 62 different countries, including China, Israel, South Africa, and Lebanon! Unfortunately, they did not advance to finals, but they had a lot of fun and are very proud to have reached this level of competition; it's their best season yet. Great work, Bulldogs!

    • Summer Opportunity Fair: Looking for a job or something to do this summer? Then join us during Garfield's own Summer Opportunity Fair! Stop by the career center hallway on Monday, April 30th to learn more! The fair will run during 3rd period, lunch and 4th period. See you there!
    • On Tuesday, May 1st, the Garfield College Access Network will be hosting Senior Signing Day during advisory in the Commons! Senior Signing Day is a great way to show our support for students who will be graduating and celebrate their post-secondary plans. Stay tuned for details!
    • Alaska Airlines Aviation Day!: Ever thought about working in the flight industry? Becoming a pilot or working for Boeing? Then join us Saturday, May 5th for Alaska Airlines Aviation Day! Visit the Career Center to sign-up and get more details!
    • UW-Bothell Diversity Day: Want to go to UW? Interested in learning about the diverse programs they have on campus? Then join us on Saturday, May 12th for UWB's College Diversity Day. Visit the Career Center to sign-up and get more details!
    • Spots are filling up fast for summer school. If you need to make up a class, please see your counselor right away or pick up a summer school application from the counseling office. Spots are limited so act quickly!

    GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • Need a first-time or replacement ID card? See Ms. A in the Activities Center in the Commons during lunch on Tuesdays or Thursdays! First time IDs are free, replacements are $5!
    • Need tutoring? Stop by the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:45 – 5:45pm to get help with homework.
    • Need Support? Worried about a friend? Confidential support is available through the Student Assistance Program, come see Ms. Danielle Bock in the Q
    • Are you feeling stressed or anxious? Would you like mental health support? Stop by the Teen Health Center on the first floor and make an appointment with Ms. Moore to talk about emotional and mental health concerns, including family, social and academic problems.

    • PE COMPETENCY TEST 12th Graders: A list of students needing to take the PE Competency Test is now posted outside the Counseling Office and outside Ms. Manuel’s Room in 304. If your student number is on this list you will need to take the test on May 7th at 4:00pm in the GHS Commons.

    • Attention Juniors! It’s time to start thinking about Leadership opportunities at Garfield. Are you interested in pursuing a school-wide project? Representing your classmates to the administration, parent organizations, and school board? Building community at Garfield? Associated Students of Garfield (ASG) applications are available NOW outside the Activities Center and are due on Thursday, 5/3.
